Sports Premium 2024-25

Since the introduction of the Schools Sports Premium in 2013 our PE provision has gone from strength to strength. As a result, we have achieved Gold School Games Mark five times and the Platinum mark twice.

At Colmore Junior School, we continue to prioritise PE, school sport, and physical activity to ensure our children develop a lifelong love of movement and a positive relationship with being active. Our Sport Premium Funding has played a vital role in helping us maintain and extend our commitment to high-quality physical education and opportunities for all pupils.

This academic year, the funding has been used to:

  • Provide high-quality CPD training and support, helping school staff feel confident and skilled in delivering engaging PE lessons.
  • Enhance our PE curriculum through new resources and equipment, supporting inclusive and varied physical activities.
  • Offer the My Personal Bestprogramme to different children, which focuses on developing essential life skills such as resilience, self-belief, and cooperation through physical activity.
  • Enable a group of children to engage in a sports mentorship programme, encouraging pupils to set goals and address personal challenges.
  • Enable children to enter competitions, festivals and attend inter-school sports events, promoting teamwork and healthy competition.
  • Deliver a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and enrichment activities across different year groups, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to explore and enjoy physical activity beyond the classroom.

Through these initiatives, we aim to build a culture of participation, confidence, and enjoyment in physical activity that children will carry with them throughout their lives.
